This post is a bit of something different. Where did the Barnes Equestrian logo come from?
Prior to starting Barnes Equestrian back in October of 2018, I put a lot of thought and planning into my business before even announcing to those close to me that I was going out on my own. One of the key areas in creating a business is – What are people going to look at and automatically think “Barnes Equestrian?”
What do you want to symbolise your brand and business?
But what do you choose? How do you choose a logo for your brand? Loads of people have their own ideas. Some will look at what others design and sell online. You might even reach out to a graphic designer and create a custom idea with professional help. For me though, I wanted to keep it personal.
Look familiar?
How about now?
2018 was a special year for me
Kaje, who I bred and foaled in 2011 turned 7. Through the years of 3 to 6 she looked immature. Weak. She looked young and she just wasn’t ready. In 2018 at the age of 7 she finally looked ready. She was ready. She was ridden for the first time and the photo above was her first ever canter in the arena! Doesn’t look too shabby, does it?
That was a personal highlight of my year. For that reason, I wanted to immortalise it. I turned the above photo into my logo. It felt like a perfect fit.
Logos develop over time and I’ve considered this too. My aim is that as I develop my partnership with Kaje and we progress in the sport of Dressage, I want to be able to reflect this in the logo for Barnes Equestrian. Future logos might take on a different design altogether. Above all, for me the foundation is to always reflect progression. As my business, brand, horse and myself evolve within the industry, so will my logo.
The Barnes Equestrian logo has a story. A story that started with Kajes’ first canter. It’s personal; and like my business and my brand, it means something to me.
